v10.3 [Jun 19, 2020]
- Added the lookup feature when selecting values from lists. When you add people, movies and other values in the new version of Movienizer, the list automatically scrolls itself according to the already entered letters, which helps select the required value easily.
- Plugins are now provided with correct registry access. After moving to the new engine, certain difficulties with plugins were discovered. In Movienizer 9.2, new features were added to work with Windows registry, which removes these difficulties.
- User interfaces have been updated. The program comes with three different interface themes. Interface scripts were fixed and improved, default settings were adjusted according to user requests.
- The "Info about persons" window remembers the number of people that are to be pre-selected automatically. When browsing a movie page, you can click the "Info about persons" button to download information about several people from the list at once. By default, the program also selects a certain number of people automatically when you open the download window. This number can be adjusted, but Movienizer 9.1 kept your new value only during the current session. Movienizer 9.2 remembers the custom value and uses it next time, too.
- Updated plugins that import movie details from other catalog programs. Movienizer 9.2 includes the latest versions of plugins that import data from other movie catalog programs, taking into account the latest versions of the corresponding programs.

- Fixed downloading information by barcode. Several download scripts support downloading movies by barcodes. In Movienizer 9.1, barcodes weren't properly sent to the special field of the download script, which is why the program fell back to the far less reliable title lookup. Movienizer 9.2 works with barcodes in download scripts correctly.
- Fixed downloading Dune catalog patterns in the extended mode. The older versions of Movienizer offered a set of several basic patterns for Dune movie catalog, and additional patterns could be downloaded from the site and installed manually. In Movienizer 9.1, patterns could be downloaded dynamically, so it became possible to download and install required files in one click. But there was an issue when downloading patterns in the extended mode. This issue was fixed in Movienizer 9.2.
- Fixed clearing fields on the editions tab when reloading video file parameters. On the Editions tab you can attach video files to a movie or a TV series (if you add movies from files and folders, the video files are linked automatically). You can also refresh technical parameters of the file by clicking the "Refresh" button. However, Movienizer 9.1 could lose clear fields of the edition when you clicked this button. This was fixed in Movienizer 9.2.
- Fixed downloading movie lists from IMDb and Kinopoisk. Movienizer can download already existing movie lists from sites like IMDb and Kinopoisk. This feature stopped working due to changes on the sites and was properly updated in Movienizer 9.2.
- Fixed errors when restarting Windows without closing the program. If a system restart was initiated with Movienizer running, an error message could be displayed. This was fixed in the new version.

v8.0 [Apr 4, 2015]
Movienizer 8.0. Improvements and new features in the movie organizer.
[!] Controls in the "Edit info" window for movie were reorganized. Directors, screenplay writers and other crew members are shown in a single list.
In the "Edit info" window, various lists (directors, screenplay writers, composers) were combined into one list. Now you can add, remove or edit all crew members on the "General" tab.
Crew in the edit info window
If you need to add a person, click the corresponding category (for example, Directors), then click the plus button in the right upper corner of the list. Alternatively, you can click the arrow next to the plus button and select a category:
Add a crew member
[!] Added support for new types of people: producers and cinematographers.
In addition to directors, screenplay writers and composers, Movienizer 8.0 supports producers and cinematographers. The program will download information about these new types automatically, as you download information about movies.
Producers and cinematographers
You can enable or disable downloading this information in the download script settings:
Download information about producers and cinematographers
As usual, producers and cinematographers can also be added to any movie manually, in the "Edit info" window.
[!] In extended filters, it is now possible to select a logical operator ("AND" / "OR") for fields with several values.
Extended filters have become even more powerful in Movienizer 8.0. Now you can choose how multiple values should be combined within one field.
Logical condition for the extended filter
For example, using the "AND" operator, you will find movies that have both "Adventure" and "Fantasy" in the list of genres. Using the "OR" operator, you will list all movies of the "Adventure" genre plus all movies of the "Fantasy" genre (so the list is likely to be longer than the first one).
The selected logical operator applies to all fields where multiple selections are possible (genre, countries, actors, etc.).
[ ] Technical information can now be copied to other editions / episodes.
In Movienizer 8.0, you can fill out fields for one episode of a TV series and then copy the values to the rest of the episodes:
Copy fields to other editions
There are 3 fields that aren't copied: Filename, Duration, and File size. Any information in other fields will be replaced by the information that you've entered into the current episode / edition:
Warning, replacing information
You can choose whether to copy values from the current tab or from all tabs. Additionally, if the TV series includes several seasons, you can copy values to all episodes of the current season, or to all episodes of all seasons:
Choose where to copy fields from and to
[ ] Movie rating can be updated without re-downloading any other information.
Movie rating may change quite frequently, especially for recently released movies. In Movienizer 8.0, you can update ratings for any number of selected movies without downloading and updating any other information. Just enable Group Operations, select some movies and click "Tools" - "Update movie rating".
Update movie rating
Movienizer will automatically download the current ratings from the corresponding information source.
Updating movie ratings
No other details are affected by this operation.
[ ] For movies with several editions, when movie location is set using the right-click menu, you can now select an edition.
In previous versions of Movienizer you could use the right-click menu to set location only for single-edition movies and for the first edition of movies that had several editions.

Movienizer 8.0 will prompt to choose an edition:

- It is now possible to import a Movie Collector's database split into several XML files.
v7.1 [Mar 26, 2014]
[!] Added custom fields and lists for persons.
Custom fields and lists for movies were available in the movie organizer for a long time. In Movienizer 7.1, these additional fields are also available for people. Now you can add more information about actors, directors, screenplay writers, composers. For example, we use one custom field as "Eye color" and a custom list as "Tags", names and values of custom fields can be edited in the same way as in the custom fields for movies. In the "Edit info" window for persons, a new tab is dedicated to custom fields.
[+] On the "Search" tab, it is possible to search for movies that are not in the collection.
In Movienizer, there are movies that belong to your collection (have the "In collection" flag set) and other movies (for example, movies from filmographies). Previously the "Search" tab offered only two possible options for the "Status" field: in collection or in database. If the latter option was selected, the program found both movies that were in collection and movies that were not. Thus it was not possible to search only for movies that were not in collection. Movienizer 7.1 adds a new option.
[+] Saving size of the "Add movie/ Add person" windows.
It is possible to change size of the "Add movie" and "Add person" windows by dragging their borders. Movienizer 7.1 keeps your adjustments between sessions.
[+] Added a hotkey combination, Ctrl+D, to open the Dune catalog wizard for the current movie.
You can create information pages and covers for your Dune HD media player for all your movies. Alternatively, it is possible to create such pages and covers just for the current movie. Movienizer 7.1 adds a new hotkey combination that allows doing this quicker. Just open the page of some movie and press Ctrl + D.
[+] In the "Customize collection" window, a new variable, %40, is available. It can be used to create "Date added" entries.
The new variable allows creating a combination where your movies will be sorted in the order you added them into Movienizer. For example, we created the "Date added\Movies" entry. However, this also allows creating more complex (multi-level) entries, as required.
[+] When adding movies from files, an existing movie cover can be used as the main cover.
If you have correct movie covers stored beside your video files, you can allow Movienizer using it instead of the cover that it downloads from the internet. Just enable the corresponding option in the "File scanner settings".
[*] In the "Add movie / Add person" window, the focus is automatically set to the field where you enter information.
When you opened the "Add movie" or "Add person" window in a previous version of Movienizer, the focus was set to options. Thus you needed to click on the text field to start entering movie titles or names. Movienizer 7.1 allows to start entering titles and names faster.
[*] On the toolbar, width of arrows that open dropdown lists is increased.
Movienizer 7.0 introduced bigger toolbar buttons. Subsequently, we received some requests to increase size of the arrows that opened the dropdown lists with options. This was adjusted in Movienizer 7.1.
[*] On the "Collection" tab, movies from movie series are sorted by their number in the series.
Another tweak of Movienizer 7.1 refers to the "Collection" tab. In particular, its "Movie series" entry. Now movies under this entry are sorted by their number in the series.
[-] Fixed creating a movie catalog for Popcorn Hour.
Movienizer 7.1 fixes a problem with passing credentials to the Popcorn Hour media player.
[-] Fixed counting number of movie series in the statistics.
The "Statistics" window now shows the number of movie series in the current collection for the "Number of movie series" entry. Previously, the general number of movies in all movie series was displayed.
[-] Fixed saving the selected state of the "Replace descriptions / biographies when downloading info" option.
On the "Download options" tab of the general settings window of the program, you can choose whether to replace descriptions and biographies when you download information. With this option enabled, descriptions and biographies are replaced by newly downloaded data. If you disable the option, downloaded descriptions are added to the existing ones. Previously, Movienizer did not save your selection, if other than "Custom settings" option was selected on the top. This is fixed in Movienizer 7.1.
[-] When creating a Dune movie catalog, in the "Directors" category, all people are now processed instead of only those who have photos.
Movienizer 7.1 fixes a small bug in the logic of the Dune movie catalog wizard. This refers to the "Directors" category.
[-] When using several tabs, correct files can be played from the toolbar for the selected tab.
[-] Fixed adding people that are actors, directors and screenplay writers at the same time.
[-] Fixed other bugs.
v6.3 [Sep 8, 2013]
1. A feature to download information about selected movies from the person's page.
- After downloading information about a movie, you can learn more about any person from the movie by clicking on the person and hitting the "Download" button on the toolbar. Movienizer will download photos, biography, and the complete filmography of the person.
2. A feature to re-download main photos of people.
- Movienizer can re-download main photos of actors automatically, if the selected download script supports this feature.
3. An option to show user rating and Kinopoisk rating under movie covers (Breeze).
- In the Breeze user interface, some additional options were added for displaying movie ratings. In particular, you can now choose between displaying your own rating, IMDb rating, Kinopoisk rating, or any combination of those. The corresponding rating will be displayed only if available.
4. An option to show disc numbers in the movie list.
- In the Breeze, Orange and Modern user interfaces, you can enable showing disc numbers in the main movie list (the "Movies" tab in the left area of the program's window). The corresponding option can be found in the interface settings: F10 - "User interface" - "Settings".
5. A possibility to enter a local path to a trailer.
- In Movienizer the functionality of the URL list that you find on the "Other" tab of the "Edit info" window was extended. Now you can enter a local path here and specify that it's a trailer. Movienizer will play the specified file instead of opening the link in your browser.
6. By default, only "In collection" and "Seen" icons are displayed on movie pages (Breeze).
- There are 4 status icons in Movienizer: "In collection", "Seen", "Wanted", "For sale". These icons can be found on any movie page in the right upper corner. Movienizer 6.3 hides the "Wanted" and "For sale" icons, if you do not use them. This behavior can be adjusted in the interface settings.
7. Fixed creating an illustrated movie catalog for Dune HD for a big number of movies.
- If you own a Dune HD media player and use Movienizer to create illustrated catalogs of your films, you might have notice a problem of creating huge catalogs. Movienizer 6.3 includes a fix for this problem.
8. Fixed saving Dune pattern settings on systems with active UAC.
- UAC (User Account Control) is a special security feature of Windows Vista and later versions that introduces some limitations for user accounts and does not allow changing files outside the home directory of the user. Due to a virtualization problem, the previous version of Movienizer could not save Dune pattern settings on a system with UAC enabled, unless you started the program as administrator. Movienizer 6.3 can properly save settings on such systems.
9. Fixed setting location.
- There was a small problem that prevented the user from saving certain values into the location field of the "Editions" tab.
10. Fixed showing incomplete images when displaying them in a separate window.
- The built-in image viewer of Movienizer could cut off the bottom of an image when showing it. Movienizer 6.3 makes sure that every picture is displayed properly.
11. Fixed losing episode rating when re-downloading information about the TV series.
- In Movienizer, you can rate individual episodes of a TV series. However, previous versions of the program might lose your rating if you re-downloaded information about the TV series. Movienizer 6.3 keeps episode rating, even if you re-download information.
v6.1 [Apr 4, 2013]
[!] Now it is possible to create illustrated movie catalogs for Popcorn Hour A-400.
Movienizer 6.1 extends support for high definition video players. In addition to Dune HD, Google TV, and WD TV Live, it now create illustrated movie catalogs for Popcorn Hour A-400 players, using information from your database. Later you can easily navigate through your movie collection using the remote or even your iPad:

[+] On the "Collection" tab, the list of seasons and episodes of TV series can now be displayed, along with the seen flag for each episode.
Movienizer 6.1 allows browsing seasons and episodes of TV series directly on the "Collection" tab, by expanding entries of the corresponding TV series. Clicking on some episode or season will open information about the season in the main area on the right.
Browse seasons and episodes on the Collection tab
[+] A new option to sort the movie list by site rating.
The "Movies" tab of the program displays a list of movies from your collection. It can be filtered and sorted in different ways. Movienizer 6.1 adds a new option: now you can sort your movies according to your favorite site's rating of the movie.
Sort movies by site rating
[+] Awards and site rating can now be used in reports.
Movienizer contains an easy-to-use report builder that allows including various fields from your movie database into your reports. In Movienizer 6.1 the list of fields available in reports was further extended by adding site rating and awards.
Using site rating and awards in reports
[+] Reports can be sorted and filtered according to the selected item on the "Collection" tab.
Movienizer 6.1 makes creating reports easier, as now you can apply any sorting method from the "Collection" tab. Just select an item (or create a new one, if the desired sorting method is not pre-defined) and open "Reports". For example, going to Reports from the situation shown on the screenshot below will result it sorting our report according to IMDb rating.
Create reports using the currently selected sorting method
[+] The HTTPS protocol is now supported in download scripts.
Some sites offer additional content for registered users. Using HTTPS, Movienizer 6.1 can securely log in to such sites and retrieve the additional information.
[+] Searching for adult titles is now supported in the IMDb script.
By default this feature is disabled. You can enable looking for adult titles on IMDb in the IMDb script settings. You will need to enter your IMDb account username and password into the program. The data are transferred to the IMDb server securely, using HTTPS.
[+] Checking integrity of the database when creating a backup copy.
From time to time Movienizer prompts to create a backup copy. This helps keeping your information safe in case there is any problem (virus, system error, power outage, etc.). However, previous versions of the program might create backup copies of already damaged databases. Movienizer 6.1 checks database integrity before creating a backup and reports if there is any problem (so that you can roll back to an earlier backup). While taking a bit longer, this additional check makes sure that everything is correct.
Check database integrity
[+] Creating Dune movie catalogs for Dune players with different network names.
When creating an illustrated catalog of your films for Dune HD, previous versions of Movienizer depended on the default network name of the device. This was sufficient for most cases, but some users preferred to rename the device, especially if they owned several ones. Movienizer 6.1 can work with different network names of Dune.
[+] In the Breeze user interface, it is now possible to show actors by birthplace.
The new version of the Breeze user interface parses information about birthplace and creates hyperlinks, allowing you to learn who else was born in this particular city, state, or country. Just click the entry to show all people born in that place.
Click the city to show all people born there
[+] In the movie list, site rating for the movies can be displayed.
Movienizer 6.1 can display movie rating from any site of your choice. The example below shows IMDb rating. The feature is supported by Breeze, Orange, Modern, and Original user interfaces.
Show site rating in the list
[+] On the "By rating" tab, movies can be sorted by user rating or by site rating.
In Movienizer, you can assign your own rating to movies by clicking the stars on the movie page. However, if you do not use this feature, you can now switch to using a site rating instead. Just select the preferred rating in the interface settings window (F10 - "User interface" - "Settings").
Fragment of the user interface settings window
[+] When searching movies by description, the search phrase is highlighted in descriptions.
v6.0 [Dec 24, 2012]
Movienizer now fully supports Unicode, so it is possible to save texts in different languages without readjusting any system settings.
New user interface: Breeze. On the main page, random shots from your movies are shown.
In the Breeze, Orange and Modern interfaces, now it is easy to see people whose birthday is today.
An important feature for movie lovers: download information about people and learn about their spouses.
A new feature to replace (instead of adding) movie descriptions or biographies when downloading information. Attention: by default it is enabled!
On the "Search" tab, there is a new feature to search for movies using a phrase from their descriptions.
v5.6 [Nov 30, 2012]
When adding movies from files, the file extension is saved to the "Format" field.
File extension quite often says much above the format of a particular file, we refer to "AVI format", "MKV format", etc. Movienizer 5.6 uses this fact to make the process of adding movies from files more convenient. Now the file extension is saved to the "Format" field of the movie edition. This will allow you using several other convenient features of the program: for example, select movies of a certain format using Quick filter, sort movies by formats on the "Collection" tab, and so on.
When adding movies by barcodes, it is now possible to save information downloaded from Amazon.
When you add movies using their barcodes, Movienizer requests some basic information about the movies from Amazon. This information is shown directly in the first step of the "Add movie" dialog and typically includes a cover, the title, and some other details. When you click "Next", Movienizer tries to find some more information about the movies using the selected download source (for example, IMDb), but sometimes no further information is available for the particular title, and Movienizer reports that the movie was not found. While in most cases it would be sufficient to edit the title (remove such details as "extended edition", which do not belong to the title) and try once again, in Movienizer 5.6, there is yet another option. Now you can simply add the movie using the details downloaded from Amazon.
Details from Amazon (such as technical information about the disc) can also be saved, if additional information about the movie was downloaded using a script.
Fixed saving information about actors when downloading information for a group of movies.
A problem was reported in Movienizer 5.5: when downloading information about a group of movies, the program stopped saving information about actors into its database. This problem was fixed in Movienizer 5.6.

User Account Control (UAC) is an additional security feature, introduced in Windows Vista and available in Windows 7 and Windows 8. Movienizer 5.6 fixes the problem with saving Dune template settings on system where UAC is enabled.
Fixed detecting DVD video resolution.
It was reported that Movienizer 5.5 did not detect DVD video resolution correctly. This problem was fixed in Movienizer 5.6.
Fixed saving size of the main window on systems where bigger fonts are used.
If your system is set to use bigger font size and make texts and other items look bigger, previous versions of Movienizer could restore the size of the main window incorrectly. This issue was fixed in Movienizer 5.6.
Fixed other small bugs.
As usual, the new version includes some further minor improvements and bug fixes. Please report any problems you find in Movienizer on our forum or using our support page.
