Major sections of the software have been rewritten and a new API for the plugin developer community will make possible exciting and innovative new plugins not possible in 2.1. The list below is a small sampling of the updates.
In 3.0 SportTracks gets a brand new reporting view with several features:
- A free-text search option for quickly and easily finding activities
- Support for searching by equipment, multiple categories, and advanced date searches
- A quick-menu for recently used searches
- Saved reports remember the table column preferences
- Multi-panel charting - up to four charts can be displayed in one page
- New enhancements to the reporting plugin API - allowing plugin analysis views to take advantage of search & filtering
- You can use the search box in the main window to quickly find workouts
1. Custom Data Fields
You can now define your own custom data fields for workouts, athlete history, and even equipment.
Want to track body measurements such as waist or chest size? No problem. Record your place in a race or part number on a piece of gear? Simply add a custom field and track the data you care about.
2. Activity Category Options
To support swimmers and rowers you can now customize the distance used to something other than mile or kilometer when showing pace for a category. Any distance and units can be used: show your minutes per 500 meters, per 100 yards, per quarter mile, etc.
3. Equipment Enhancements
You are allowed to add new data fields to equipment and ways to better manage your gear:
Equipment life can be tracked by usage in hours time used, distance used, or months since purchase
An item's weight units can be chosen, including more refined units such as grams and ounces
A "Duplicate" command allows you to quickly copy existing equipment
Equipment status icons appear in activity detail - showing you when your gear needs to be replaced
For users with lots of gear - you can now pick groups of commonly used equipment quickly
4. Data Tracking
A long requested enhancement: there is no longer an 18 hour time limit on workouts. Time to sign up for that ultra-marathon!
For travelers, data is now stored with the local time zone. Now your workouts won't change from 09:00 to 14:00 when you fly across the globe.
5. Garmin Device Support
Import .FIT files directly from the Garmin Edge 500, 310XT, and others.
Support for device import when not connected to the internet using Garmin Communicator Plugin.
6. Mapping Updates
Added support for clicking and dragging along your route in the map window to pick a section of the workout, just like you can in a chart.
The measure tool now shows distance along your route in addition to direct-line distance.
Google Terrain maps will help hikers, mountain bikers and outdoor adventurers know what kinds of elevation changes they can expect.
Open Street Maps - Community-generated maps showing much more feature detail in some areas.
