XML was designed to transport and store data and it is widely used for data interchange over the Internet. However, there could be times when you need to retrieve the data stored in XML format so that they can be readily imported by some applications. Advanced XML Converter can extract data in tabular formats, for instance XLS, DBF, CSV, HTML and SQL.

The program allows you to perform XML conversion easily. It supports two modes: single file and batch. Thus, you can open an individual file and preview its contents. You can choose to view them in a node tree, from which you can see either the general structure or the records. The Global Tables View, in turn, shows various tabs showing fields, records, root and structure. Finally, there is the Flat Table view showing all the database elements as a single page. If you need to retrieve data from various XML files, it is advisable to use the Batch mode to import a complete folder, and you can apply filters so that only the desired files are converted.

When tested, the program could convert XML to other formats very quickly. However, Microsoft Excel could not open an XLS file that had been previously converted as an XML table by this application. After this, I changed the options to use the binary format and this time I succeeded in viewing the desired data in Excel. I also verified that Excel could import the original XML file without any need to use Advanced XML Converter. The difference is that when using Excel, you do not have any control on the data to import while this converter lets you select the output information.
