Aiseesoft AVI Converter for Mac is a video conversion utility that can be used to convert your video files to AVI and other formats. Although this app's website states that the app was specifically designed for the conversion of AVI files, that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, you probably wouldn't be able to distinguish this converter from other converters released by Aiseesoft. The list of supported formats includes other popular codecs such as H.264, MPEG-4, MOV, ASF, WebM, MKV, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, and a few others. There is a long list of conversion profiles available, but most of them don't use AVI. There are profiles for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation Portable, iPod, iPhone, iPad, and a lot of cell phones.

The graphical user interface, almost identical to the one used in other Aiseesoft converters, includes a video player, and a drop-down menu where you can select the video format or conversion profile that you want to use. You can make changes to the profiles and then save them. If you edit an AVI profile, you will be able to change the encoder used and there are quite a few of them available. The frame rate, resolution, aspect ratio and bitrate can also be changed.

In short, Aiseesoft AVI Converter for Mac is a nice, simple video converter. It has a lot of conversion profiles and a good-looking interface. However, if you were looking for an application specifically designed for the conversion of AVI files, with lots of options for that format, then you may want to keep looking for something else. This one looks like a generic converter that lets you convert your files to AVI.
