Aiseesoft iPod + iPhone Mac Suite combines two applications in a single package. The apps are iPod Manager for Mac and Mac iPhone Ringtone Creator. With the first utility, you can manage your iOS devices: movies, music, ringtones, photos and videos can be transferred using this utility, but books, calls, SMSs and other types of data are not supported. Although you may think only the iPod is supported by this app, that is not the case. Both the iPhone and the iPad are detected by this tool without any problems.
The second part of the suite is a ringtone maker. It is a simple utility that lets you transform a video or audio clip into a small M4R file that you can load on your iPhone and use it as a ringtone for incoming calls. It is very easy to use and it works rather well. However, I find it strange that a separate ringtone maker is included when the "Manager" application already comes with one.
I did most of my testing with the Manager app. I used an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1. It was detected and loaded by the app quite quickly. I could browse and preview my files before transferring them. I moved data to and from the device without any problems.
There is another similar suite sold by Aiseesoft, targeted towards iPhone 4 users. I found it to be identical to this one, so you don't really need to get that one if you are an iPhone 4 user. This one will do just fine.
