Albertus Font Family was created by German type designer and lettering artist Berthold Wolpe. Monotype's Stanley Morison commissioned Albertus after seeing photos of Wolpe's work with bronze inscriptions. Named for medieval scientist and philosopher Albert the Great, this historically-inspired design is charmingly idiosyncratic but has great strength of character. Albertus fonts chiseled features and firm strokes make a bold statement and work best at large sizes. Albertus fonts bridges the gap between classical inscriptional lettering and contemporary sans types. Albertus fonts are an ideal choice for evoking a monumental, historical feel.
