ASCII Animator is a program that can convert animated GIFs into animated ASCII art.
Animated GIF are widely used in web pages, forums and blogs. Most user avatars are animated GIF. To convert an animated GIF into ASCII art means that the image will be re-draw using ASCII symbols. This will not produce a better image. By the contrary, the results are very messy. But it may be fun to use a vintage-looking image sometimes.
Using the program is very easy. All you will need to do is to tell the program the path and file name of the animated GIF you want to convert, and the path where you want to store the resulting ASCII art file, that will also be an animated GIF.
You can, if you want, change the font that will be used, and the character density.
The program will then process the file, and will open the generated file with the program associated with the GIF extension in your system.
To get better results, you should choose to use a monochrome image, with no transparency, as the source file. Otherwise, your ASCII animation will have a dark background, and it will be hard to distinguish anything.
In order to be able to run ASCII Animator, you will need Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or later.
