aText is a program designed for Mac users who wish to reduce the time they spend on typing by substituting defined abbreviations with frequently used words and phrases. This utility provides you with a straightforward interface, allows you to organize the abbreviations into groups, and lets you define global hotkeys if necessary.

All you need to do in order to work with this application is define the abbreviations with their correspondent phrases, words or URLs. Then, each time you write one of the abbreviations within, let's say TextEdit app (Mac's default text processor), aText immediately makes the necessary text changes.

This program might come in handy whenever you need to quickly type special symbols, like pictographs, Apple logo, Math ideograms (symbols), arrows, and many others.

I like the fact that you can also include images, URLs, and time stamps into the abbreviation description.

All in all, aText proves to be a smart addition to your collection of apps, especially if you're a content writer or a software developer. This program communicates well with various Mac applications, immediately replaces abbreviations with the correspondent word or phrase, and uses a very small amount of CPU resources. What's more, it comes for a very reasonable price.
