Awale is an ancient African game of strategy with simple rules but with a quite challenging and absorbing gameplay. The game requires two players, one of which is the computer, who will take turns to play with one objective in mind: capture the biggest amount of seeds possible, since this will determine the winner. The gameboard is divided into two territories with six holes for each player. Each of these holes starts primarily with a total of four seeds. To start, one of the players has to choose any of the holes of his/her territory, and distribute the seeds on the other holes in a counter clock wise. If the last seed falls on a hole with two or three seeds, then the player is allowed to capture them. This description applies to the classic game mode, but the application includes 16 game variations with slightly different rules but keeping the original gameplay.
From the main menu we have several options to control the game, for example, we can restart our current game, save and load games, etc. We can also set some of the game options, choose another variation, and select the level of difficulty. It includes comprehensive information on the game rules and each of the variations. The program also allows us to play against other people through Internet simply by choosing the corresponding option from the game menu. In addition, it is available for Windows and Mac OS.
