Bastion is an isometric adventure/role-playing game in which the player ("The Kid"), nearly alone among the human survivors of a man-made disaster ("The Calamity") in an airborne civilization, seeks to restore the power of a safe haven with special properties ("The Bastion").
Summing up Bastion is difficult because it's so very unique. Here's the best I came up with: it's probably the most kid-friendly well-made post-apocalyptic combat game out there. While the presence of human-on-human violence may violate the kid-friendliness idea, there's no question the game is suitable for players of all skill levels. There's a no-sweat mode for casual players and an unlockable game-plus mode for the more dedicated. Achievements and challenges incorporated into the plot go further to creating new fun for those who seek it. And the player makes choices that influence the narrative plot, demanding at least one replay to test all possible outcomes.
Sam's Protip: The narrator has commentary on many different weapon combinations and items. No harm in trying them out!
