Rev. Frederick Henry Ambrose Scrivener (1813-1891), a renowned English cleric and writer, was a member of the English New Testament Revision Commitee, the group that produced the Revised Version of the Bible, which, as its name implies, is a revised edition of the King James' version. He advocated the Textus Receptus, that is, the Received Text or first Greek printed versions of the New Testament, as the primary sources for the translation of the New Testament over more contemporary versions.
