Bombard is a 3D catapult puzzle and action game for the Mac. It is also available for iOS devices, which can benefit from more intuitive touch controls. In this game, you have to shoot projectiles at targets using a catapult. There are different objectives at each level, and there are three different maps: Island, Village and Castle.
On the Mac, you shoot a catapult by pressing and holding the space bar, which controls the power. You can also do it by clicking on the power button on the screen. You rotate the catapult with the left and right arrow keys. Hitting targets is mostly hit-and-miss experience, since there is no accurate way of determining how far the targets are. There are different types of ammunition that you can use. There is the single projectile, and then there are explosive projectiles, multiple projectiles, and more.
Bombard is an OK game to kill some time. It features 3D graphics but they are not really great. Also, the app made my Mac get really hot really quickly, which means the game isn't very optimized.
One thing I didn't like is how the tutorial was presented. You have to sit through 7 or 8 slides on how the game works at the first level. And you can't skip it.
