Apple keyboards provide you with control keys for increasing or decreasing the brightness of your screen. Unfortunately, if you're using a keyboard produced by other vendors than Apple, your only solution is to go to System Preferences -> Display and configure the brightness settings according to your needs. One alternative for the tedious aforementioned task comes from Brighter-Screen.
This application sits on your Menu Bar from where you can adjust the brightness level of your screen and configure the program's settings according to your needs. You can also define global hotkeys for increasing or decreasing screen brightness.
You can increase the brightness level of your screen up to 105% or decrease it at any value you like. The program also provides you with an option to automatically launch once you turn on your Mac.
In my testing, Brighter-Screen worked perfectly and didn't slow down the performance of my computer.
As a conclusion, this program proves to be a reliable solution for adjusting the brightness level of your screen. What's more, it comes with a very reasonable price.
