BurgerTime Deluxe is a new PC remake of a 1982 Namco arcade classic. It's a single screen platform game like most of its era, and your task is to help your uncle make burgers while defeating the dastardly Vinnie Vinegar.
The cutesy graphical style may not be to everyone's tastes, and the gameplay at first glance looks childish too. However, a few seconds in, and it's already quite compelling. It mixes platforms with Pacman-style monster avoidance, which make constructing your burgers much more complicated than first appears. Control is via the keyboard, and is almost as simple as you could imagine. Purists may wish they could plug in a joystick though!
The gameplay gets harder by increasing the number of monsters and speed, but as the difficulty ramps up, you'll get power-ups too. BurgerTime Deluxe has all the addictive qualities you find in early games, but if you demand more complex gameplay, it won't be for you.
BurgerTime Delux is a great update of one of the strangest early arcade classics, and you might well find the demo's hour limit much too short!
