Work with a standalone RSS reader for your network and online materials. Configure the options for collecting, displaying, scrolling, and updating news feeds according to your specifications and task requirements. Combine multiple sources manually or automatically.
Caffeinated is a very nice Google Reader desktop app. It allows you to connect to your Google Reader account and read all those RSS feeds you eagerly wait for each morning. This is a free app, which is in an early beta, but it still manages to look great and work like a charm. Of course, there are some features that you will find in commercial apps that this app simply doesn't have. But I am pretty sure more features will be added in the future.
The main window shows a list of your RSS subscriptions on the left pane, along with a number of unread items next to each subscription. To the right are the headlines and the pane to the right of the screen shows the actual news article in full-size, even with images. This pane shows the date the article was released with a red ribbon on the top, so you can't really miss it. Also, the name of the RSS feed is added in a subtitle.
Graphically, Caffeinated looks a lot like Reeder. It has a very smooth user interface with a nice choice of fonts and colors. Reading news is very easy with this app and I love the fact that it can synchronize with Google Reader so that the news that you read on this will appear as read on Google Reader. Kudoz go to the developer for a very nice app.
