Coinage is a Mac utility that comes in handy to people who own Bitcoins and Litecoins and wish to convert them between various currencies. The program lives on your Menu Bar, displays the results next to its icon as soon as you select the output currency format and uses a small amount of CPU resources.
In the Preferences panel of the application, you will find the supported currency formats and options to hide or reveal currency symbols and decimal values. Furthermore, the utility enables you to set the interval of time for automatically updating the currency rates.
Unfortunately, this program comes with some serious flaws. For starters, the application occasionally fails to display correct conversion results. In my testing, Coinage offered me the wrong results when I selected the Bitcoin -> Euro conversion mode.
Another thing I noticed while testing the tool was that it doesn't provide you with any results when selecting the Feathercoin, Dogecoin, and Vertcoin output formats.
Hence, the program doesn't work 100%. In my opinion, it's better to use your default web browser and look for the conversion rates online. Many websites provide you with the answers you need.
