Compact Flash Data Recovery is intended to recover files from different types of storage media. At the light of the popularity gained by USB storage devices, the developers have probably decided to give it a name that could help them attract more customers. However, this application recovers lost files not only from Flash drives but from hard drives as well.
In order to help the user accomplish their purpose, this program has been designed as a wizard. This way, it is highly improbable that you find any difficulty using it, because you will be guided step by step to your goal. The process starts when you select the source drive. A tree-like structure will let you choose all your drives or only some of them. In this respect, not only logical partitions will be available as you will also be able to select physical drives. Just by pressing the corresponding button, you will be able to start searching for lost files. Depending on the size and the amount of data in the chosen drive, this process will take some time to complete. Then, you will have access to the list of found files. Luckily, the program will let you preview the files’ contents before you save them.
When trying this application, it successfully found deleted files from an external drive and from one of my hard disks. However, the trial version does not allow saving any of the recovered files, so the effectiveness of the whole process remains uncertain.
