Delay Start is a program designed for Mac users who wish to postpone the start-up of their applications. This utility also helps you decrease the time that it takes for your system to reboot by launching your login items a few seconds after Mac log on.
The tool features a listing of apps that will be launched when the countdown hits zero. You can add and remove as many utilities as you like and set the proper countdown settings (enter the amount of seconds that Delay Start will countdown when it launches next time).
If you wish to delay start-up for login items, you need to complete a few steps: set Delay Start as login item (right-click its Dock icon -> Options -> Open at Login), remove all apps from the login items list (found in System Preferences menu -> Users & Groups), and add the programs to the Delay Start list. I felt I needed to explain this, because you can't find these details on the homepage of the developer and inexperienced users might find it difficult to make the necessary changes.
In my testing, the program worked flawlessly as it launched the selected apps once the countdown hit zero.
Therefore, Delay Start is a simple yet effective utility that helps you reduce system boot time. I can't find any reason why you shouldn't try this app, especially since you don't have to pay to use it.
