Deskplorers ''The Beginning'' is a nice educational application for kids that includes a story with multiple chapters and several games. The story is told with funny characters and you can move pages by dragging the mouse to the left. Once the kids finish reading one of the chapters, they can proceed to the Catalog game, in which they need to find a list of objects in the story.
The application also includes three mini-games, which are related to the story and can be played at any moment. For instance, in one of the games, kids must defend a castle by clicking on the flying papers to make them disappear. The objective is to destroy a certain amount of papers and prevent the enemies from reaching the castle. If three enemies manage to reach the castle, the game will be over. The other games are called Absorb and Catch. The player can customize his/her name and select an image from the ones included in the list. The application features an attractive user interface, simple sounds, and suitable music.
