Desktop Movie Player is an application that plays a QuickTime movie in the background of the screen, just behind the icons of the Finder. To allow clicking on the icons of the Finder, the window must ignore any mouse click. Therefore, you can just drop a movie on the application icon or use the Open command from the menu. If necessary, you can press the "Esc" key to quit the player.
