DivX Subtitle Displayer is a video player that supports subtitles. Who would think of that, right? Simply put, the whole purpose of this application is to allow you to play your video files with subtitles. The developer website doesn't specify what subtitle formats are supported, so one has to guess.
I tried an XVID and .SRT video/subtitle combination. It is the most popular combination, mind you. First of all, DivX Subtitle Displayer does not come with any codecs at all. You must install them if they are not in your system already. Secondly, the .srt subtitle file was not supported by the application. If you use FFDSHOW, you will be able to see the video, and since it comes with VobSub, the subtitles will be displayed on any video player, including the stock Windows Media Player. In short, this app couldn't play my video file nor my subtitle file, without third-party apps.
If we look at the features, DivX Subtitle Displayer has a few interesting ones. For example, it has a very intuitive subtitle synchronization dialog, which allows you to sync the audio with a subtitles file. You can change the font of the subtitle and its frame rate, all from a single menu. But, in a nutshell, the application seems to be outdated, with nearly no support and it, well, doesn't work.
