Ann innovative and powerful map editor for Doom and other games that utilize the Doom engine, including Heretic, Hexen, and Strife. This editor offers extensive customization options for various game engines within the Doom community. It revolutionized the Doom community by introducing the 3D editing mode and continues to be the dominant editor for creating Doom levels.
Doom Builder is an excellent map editor for Doom, Heretic and Hexen. Basically, it is a map editor for all games that use the same engine. The editor also supports the newest ports for these games, such as Skulltag and ZDoom. Although Doom itself is many years old, it is surprising that people still play it with the new, community-made, online capabilities. Therefore, there is still a Doom community dedicated to create custom content for it. This is where Doom Builder comes in.
Unlike many other map editors, this is the most complete in every way. You can filter objects and sections of the map to be identified more quickly, making the process of map creation even quicker. Map making is very straightforward even for people with little experience. The best feature of the editor is the 3D. You can immediately launch a 3D view of the map (even though the game's maps are, in a way, 2D), so you can test how it will look inside the game. The client is stable and it doesn't generate problems with any system. If you are one of those still playing doom and want to create something new, there is no other choice than Doom Builder.
