Doremisoft Mac HD Video Converter is a commercial program. It can be used to convert video files between a variety of formats. It is marketed as an "HD" video converter. To that end, it comes with conversion profiles that use higher resolutions than normal. It also can open HD formats like MKV, M2TS and the like. But in all honesty, it lacks some features that an HD video converter should have in my opinion. The first thing that comes to mind is support for subtitles. When I think about HD video, I think "MKV". And those files come with multiple subtitles and audio tracks. With this app, you can't rip those, and you can't add subtitles to a file to convert it to MKV. Another thing that is needed for HD video conversion is GPU acceleration. That is also missing.
Other than those two flaws, the converter works very well. It has a video player and a video editor, both of which are very complete and work well. There are tons of different conversion profiles.
The conversion engine is good, too. I converted an MKV file to a 720p AppleTV profile and the resulting file looked good enough. The process was also quick.
