Dsync can compare the contents of two directories and synchronize them if you think it is necessary. The tool is not very difficult to use: you should start by selecting the two folders you want to compare. Fortunately, the application supports local, network and cloud folders.
In Compare mode, the application shows a side-by-side view of the contents of both folders. Good news is that the tool uses a color code to help you identify coincidences, differences and conflicts. For bidirectional syncs, it also shows in what direction the synchronization of a specific item would take place, considering that the newer file version overwrites the oldest one.
There are some additional options, some of which are enabled by default. For instance, you may decide whether you want to include subfolders or not. Likewise, in addition to the standard comparison criteria of file name and date, you can also use file size and contents. Finally, you can activate one-way synchronization to create a mirror folder. Besides, you can let the app delete those files in the target folder that are no longer present in the source.
DSync performs synchronization quite fast, probably in less time than other similar tools. Regrettably, it seems to use too much system memory, which may interfere with your work with other apps. Likewise, it would be good if it allowed using filters based on wildcards, extension, date and size to synchronize only the files meeting the chosen criteria. Similarly, it does not allow scheduling syncs.
All in all, DSync helps you synchronize contents between two folders, which is quite convenient if you work on different devices or save your work on various storage devices. Moreover, it lets you back up your files to prevent possible data losses. The product is very light and can be purchased from the Mac Store.
