dupeGuru Music Edition 6.8.1

dupeGuru Music Edition is an optimizing tool that finds duplicate music files on your computer. It has the same overall design like the original dupeGuru with different options in the preferences menu. It is very easy to use and it works surprisingly fast.

The scanning can be customized with the hardness filter which can be set to a lower value and will show more results, or to a higher value that will show some more relevant results. It can also show duplicate music files of different types, I found this feature very helpful. You can also choose among many tags such as : "track" , "album" , "artist" , "genre" , "year" and more.

Unlike the other versions of dupeGuru, the Music Edition first scan was done very fast and with a good result because I only found 10 mb of duplicate music files on my computer. The main reason for this is because I chose the "Tag" type of scan which only searches for music files that have the same tags, or tags that are very similar. After that I changed the scan type to "contents" which scans the files by their contents. It took a bit longer, almost 3 minutes but I had a lot more results. The program found a bit more than 50 mb of duplicate files that were 100% match, which surprised me because I had used similar disk-cleanup programs recently and I still had duplicate files. This proved to me that it is very effective and with its many more scan types like "Filename" and "Audio contents" I'm sure I can find even more duplicates.

Overall, dupeGuru Music Edition is a good and reliable program with an easy-to-use interface and great scanning capabilities.
