Identify and eliminate duplicate pictures. Compare pictures in various formats such as JPG, PNG, and more. The matching engine can be customized to target specific types of duplicates, ensuring accurate results. Additionally, relocate duplicate images to a dedicated folder, rather than permanently deleting them.
dupeGuru Picture Edition is software that searches for Picture duplicates on your computer. It has the same interface as the original dupeGuru, which is very simple and easy to use. With the focus being on pictures, it has different options in the preferences menu. Besides the scan type and the hardness filter, you can also search for different file types (jpeg, png, etc.) and match pictures with different dimensions.
The scanning process takes quite some time, more than expected. After about 25 minutes I got the result. On my D drive, where I keep most of my wallpapers I had 3,78 GB in duplicate files. Not all of them were a 100% match, the program shows the match percentage and I found it most useful to arrange the results by it.
The program also found a lot of duplicates of a picture in many different dimensions, I was very satisfied with the end result. The program shows the original file and its duplicates all in the same list. You can choose to show only the duplicates for an easier selection.
After you've selected what you want to dispose of, you can move them to a different directory or delete them. You can also choose to ignore them. If you want to double check the results, you can simply right click on the file and open the containing folder.
In the end I deleted about 800mb of duplicates and I consider this is a great tool which does its task well.
