While the pixel art aesthetic of Eastward makes it somewhat comparable to Hyper Light Drifter, the setting and story of the game world make comparisons to games like Fallout 4 valid as well.

The human population is at an all-time low, and the situation is not being helped by a deadly toxic presence that is spreading across the land. Now, many people are living in underground villages, but when a mysterious girl meets the protagonist, the outside world calls.

Exploration and combat

The game world is rendered in an impressive pixel art style, and the player is free to wander around and take in the scenery. Of course, there is more to the game than just exploration. The player will need to fend off monsters and fight bosses. There are several weapons to find and use to assist in this task.

A beautiful game that’s a little text-heavy

While most people who have played the game have given it praise for the impressive visuals on display, it has been criticized for the story being a little rambling in places and lacking explanations of some elements. Still, even with these criticisms, Eastwards is a very popular action RPG.
