Escape Room: The Sick Colleague is a free-to-play puzzle game you can play alone or with friends. This survival horror from BitBeast Games has a slightly unusual premise: players take the role of unwitting visitors to the apartment of the titular sick colleague. However, it turns out to be something entirely unexpected: a death trap. You’ll need to find clues, solve puzzles, and avoid traps.
With fairly realistic graphics and its ability to maintain tension all throughout the game, Escape Room: The Sick Colleague is a good horror game to try, similar to Resident Evil Village or The Apartment.
In essence, the game Escape Room: The Sick Colleague is styled the same as a real-world escape room. Shortly after you enter, you get trapped and you’ll need to get out, sometimes under a time limit. You can inspect various objects and even combine them to obtain clues and items. The same applies to the game lore, most details are offered through background items.
However, this is far from easy or straightforward. Its puzzles vary in difficulty, from visual challenges to intellectually challenging ones. While it can be considered more difficult than the usual puzzle survival game, it offers a hint system to help you get through. There are puzzles that require certain skills such as interpreting morse codes. Some puzzles can be solved by following logic and deductive reasoning.
At present, it currently has two escape rooms for players: the original Sick Colleague room and another room named Barbara’s Secret. Remember though that the rooms are designed to be foolproof, and most of these puzzles can’t be solved by brute force. Some players complain about co-op games disconnecting and requiring players to restart the game—although saving progress allows you to pick up where you left off.
If you’re looking to experience an escape room, whether alone or with friends, Escape Room: The Sick Colleague is one of the best options available. Although currently limited to only two levels, each of them is intricately designed and well thought out that players won’t be able to cheese or force their way through either of them. Some puzzles might be too nuanced or too difficult. Still, highly recommended.
