File Renamer - Basic is a great tool for quickly and easily renaming files or directories. It has a batch processing mode that makes it easy to rename multiple files or directories at once. It also allows you to search for files using various filters, which makes it very convenient. Additionally, it can use ID3 tag data to modify the name of MP3 files, which is a great feature for music lovers. Overall, File Renamer - Basic is a great tool for quickly and easily renaming files or directories.

This program is more than its name suggests. Besides helping you batch rename your photos or documents, this application is also capable of altering the names of your directories including their correspondent subfolders within moments.

File Renamer Basic comes with easy-to-configure renaming settings, features a comprehensive help manual, and works very fast. All you need to do is to select the folders or files you wish to rename, choose the preferred output settings, and let the app get the job done.

If you want to import certain files from a directory, you can use the filtering options on the upper side of the interface. Simply enter the keyword (for example, enter a file extension) and the app will immediately provide you with a list containing the files that match the entered info. Unfortunately, you cannot select multiple files from different directories and rename them at the same time, using a single output profile.

Another thing you need to consider is that the Pro or Deluxe editions of this application provide you with more features, such as the ability to undo renaming tasks, an option to drag-and-drop the files and folders you need to rename, etc. In my opinion, the 2 versions that come with price tags are definitely worth buying. It's up to you to decide, based on your needs, which app edition is the best for you.

v6.3 [Dec 5, 2010]
- Fixed the main issue with the EXIF module. Now File Renamer will correctly pull the date created (as well as all the other EXIF information). In addition, you can now right click on any file in the list, and click on the menu entry to view All the EXIF tags contained in that particular file. You can also use any of these tags in the "advanced" tab now. The tags are case sensitive, so if you use the advanced tab, be sure to use the tags exactly as you see them listed in the "tag viewer". Also fixed an issue on the central 'Check for Updates server' that should fix the issue of File Renamer not being able to reach the update server.
