FilmOn HDi Player is a desktop utility that lets you watch a wide range of TV channels directly from your computer. The application provides you with various types of channels (sports, comedy, music, kids, etc.), lets you mark your favorite TV stations, and allows you to record TV shows with minimum effort.
The program is designed in such a way that even a beginner Mac user can easily handle it. The main toolbar of the app is located on the right side of the interface where you can find a list of TV channels nicely organized into categories based on genre. There's also a panel for storing video recordings and another one for keeping track of your favorite TV channels.
An important advantage is the fact that you can schedule video recordings. The correspondent settings can be found in the Preferences panel of the app. Unfortunately, it supports only one format when exporting the video recordings: TS. Also, the search tool doesn't work. In my testing, I couldn't enter the keywords for my search.
The application itself is free of charge. However, you need to pay a subscription in order to watch additional TV channels. The acquiring price is reasonable and definitely worth it if you plan on watching the extra channels often.
In conclusion, FilmOn HDi Player is a simple and helpful Mac application that provides you with plenty of useful features and is free. Even with the aforementioned flaws, I still think it's a great solution for streaming TV shows on your Mac.
