Filters for Photos is a free image editor designed for Mac users who wish to transform plain digital photos into works of art. This application enables you to apply various visual effects to your favorite pictures and immediately share them on your Facebook or Twitter page with your friends.
After you import the picture you wish to alter, the app provides you with a list of filters. Each visual effect comes with its own output configurations. For example, the Derby filter provides you with bars for adjusting the contrast and overlay levels.
The output quality is excellent and you can easily configure the output settings according to your needs. Moreover, if you subscribe to the developer's newsletter, you will get access to 15 additional effects.
Unfortunately, the utility doesn't offer you support for formats such as PSD, GIF or RAW. Also, Filters for Photos cannot manage multiple files at the same time. You need to import one image at a time and apply the preferred visual effect.
All in all, even though the program lacks some useful features, I still think it's worth giving this tool a try. It's free of charge, so you have nothing to lose by testing it on your Mac.
