Fission is an efficient audio editing tool designed for Mac. This feature-rich utility enables you to crop, trim, and join audio files with minimum effort, without losing any of their quality in the process.
The application comes with a straightforward interface, works with a wide variety of audio formats, and gives you access to waveform display mode. What's more, it lets you add Fade-In and Fade-Out effects to your audio files, edit metadata info if necessary, insert silence segments in the imported sound files, and much more.
In addition, you can use this application for creating ringtones for your mobile phone. The program preserves the quality of the input files and takes minimum time to export the ringtones you need.
This new version comes with many useful bug fixes and improvements. For example, you can now export segments from the imported audio files; this feature comes in handy if you need to extract a certain portion of the input file. Furthermore, the MP3 encoding is much faster.
To cut a long story short, Fission proves to be a smart addition to your collection of Mac apps. It's feature-rich, simple to use, preserves the quality of the input audio files, and is cheap.
v2.1 [Nov 2, 2012]
* The name of the game is bug fixes. Version 2.1.3 removes almost two dozen incidences of stupidity, dumbness, and boneheadedness.
* The Batch Converter has been updated to properly handle all Windows Media files, as well as ALAC-encoded CAF files, and more.
* Several additional VoiceOver improvements have been made, with labels on previously unlabeled controls. We're always working to improve this.
* Clip tabs now always show the clip name.
* A crash which could occur when inserting silence has been fixed.
* There's much more - it's all minor, but it's all very nice to have fixed as well.
