FolderSizes is a disk space analyzer that can create useful visualizations and reports. This application has the advantage of being scalable, as it supports analyzing the contents you keep in not only local folders but also servers, storage devices and even complete domains. The interface of this application is quite intuitive, which makes it easy to use regardless of its multiple features. Fortunately, there is even a welcome wizard that helps you configure the tool and at the same time gives you an overview of its usage.
The application is very effective in finding files and folders based on specific attributes. And not only that, it allows using programmable search rules. As it is normal for searches within large storage devices to take a long time, it is a blessing that you can also limit search scope.
The tool can scan the selected storage devices and create reports of the space used by each of the files and folders based on various criteria, such as type, size, creation date and owner. This allows identifying excessively large, duplicate, and old files. Moreover, you can schedule automatic report generation, which can even be sent by email. Luckily, the program supports various file formats, including Excel, PDF, HTML, CSV, and TXT.
One of the nicest features of this software is the availability of various visualization types, including a bar graph, pie graph, and folder map view. These allow you to actually view how much of your storage space is occupied by each type of content. Finally, the application lets you take snapshots of the state of a folder at a particular moment.
All in all, FolderSizes is, in my opinion, an indispensable tool if you really want to manage storage space more efficiently. In this regard, it may be extremely useful to network administrators.
