FoldingText is a program that comes as an alternative to using Mac's TextEdit app. With its help, you can create to-do lists, daily or weekly schedules, diary notes, and many others.

The application comes with a simple and nicely-designed interface that lacks a toolbar or other elements that usually takes out much needed space from main windows. You can start typing as soon as the app is launched, switch between font styles, outline text, and so much more.

FoldingText also provides you with a quick way to print the stored text content directly from its main window. Furthermore, it comes with a comprehensive help manual which might prove to be of good use to people who have little experience in working with markdown text editors.

You can export the stored information to a format that's compatible only with the FoldingText app. So, popular formats like RTF, TXT or DOC aren't supported. Another aspect you need to consider is that there are many other text editors that provide you with similar features and are cheaper.

Still, I'd say you should first give it a try on your Mac and then decide if you should continue looking for a text editor.
