GoPro VR Player 3.0

GoPro VR Player is intended to visualize 360° videos. It has the advantage of supporting up high-definition video (up to 4K). Since it is compatible with the Oculus Rift Device, the resulting image and interaction closely simulate reality; thus, the player is great for providing an immersive experience.

The player´s interface is extremely minimalistic, without unnecessary visible controls or borders. Thus, most of the space is dedicated to viewing the video. In this regard, when it displays a menu, it appears as an unobtrusive semitransparent layer on top of the video image. Of course, it has basic playback controls as well as a sound volume gauge. Moreover, there is a button to toggle full screen on and off.

There are also opportunities to interact with 360° videos by changing the viewing angle or zooming the image. Similarly, you can use different projection types, including Rectilinear and Little Planet. What is more, there is a set of effects you can apply, such as Sepia, Black&White, Old TV Screen and Invert.

Unfortunately, GoPro VR Player does not work well on low-performance computers. In this respect, it may fail to play certain types of video files.

All in all, GoPro VR Player is a great free solution for viewing and interacting with high resolution 360° videos. Yet, if you do not have a modern powerful machine, the experience could get somewhat frustrating.
