Granola is a Windows/Linux utility that enables its users to control how much energy their computer uses and displays it on screen as a small popup window. It does not really have any features other than offers to change Windows power management presets quickly, directly from the application. Granola has an informative screen that informs the users how much energy, money, CO2 and percent of CPU energy they will save in a year, or the cumulative amounts that they have already saved by controlling the consumption.
In the settings window, users are able to change the power management policies of Granola and set some other options such as calculation and currency. The large slider at the top of the window allows the users to adjust power management of the computer. Granola also informs the users if their Hardware support for Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS) from BIOS is turned off.
It has to be said that it is not really a utility that is indeed useful, it rather serves as source of information than actually does something to save energy consumption. The latter ultimately resides on the actions of the user.
