Higosoft PDF to ePUB Converter for Mac is a commercial PDF converter. It allows you to convert PDF files into ePub files, which is a very popular format for DRM-free eBook distribution. The ePub format can be supported by lots of devices, even iPads, iPhones, Android tablets, etc.
Although there aren't many conversion options you can change, there are two conversion modes. The first one seemingly saves all the text and images and puts saves it in an editable format to the ePub file. The second mode simply sends each page as an image. This tells me that the app doesn't have any OCR capabilities, so if you are trying to convert a scanned PDF file, the second mode will probably work best for you.
You can select how many pages of the document you want to convert. The trial version only allows you to convert the first five pages.
I used a scanned PDF to test this app and when I converted it using the first mode, the file couldn't be rendered by iBooks on an iPad. The second mode worked better, but most features on iBooks weren't usable. Since iBooks supports PDF files, I fail to see why I should convert books to ePub, since the ePub features won't work anyway. There might be other uses for this app, but unless your PDF is editable, I wouldn't bother using this app.
