Home or Away is a program that helps you organise sporting competitions. It is designed for a wide range of sports and treats each team as equally as it can. Schedules and team sheets can be printed in a variety of ways or exported to a spreadsheet or word processor for even greater reporting flexibility.

Teams, Locations and Times
Add / Change / Delete
Click on Data > Teams, Locations and Times to display one convenient window with three separately sizeable sections. Each section contains a list of teams, locations or times. The lists are no longer restricted to row-by-row editing. They can be edited in the same way that you can edit a text file using Windows Notepad:
items are added just by typing and pressing at the end of each item to start a new line
multiple lines can be selected and deleted
text can be copied / pasted to or from other Windows text files etc. etc.
When you delete a team any corresponding entries in the Team Locations list is automatically deleted. Changing the position of a team in the list does not affect the Team Locations list but it will change the team matchups in the schedule.
When you add or delete a time, the Dates / Times calendar and schedule are automatically updated as well. Changing the position of a time in the list does not affect the calendar but it may change the times of games in an existing schedule depending on which Time option was used when the schedule was generated.
Modify
Click on Modify > Teams, Locations and Times when you want to rename teams or locations or substitute times after generating a schedule without altering any other aspect of the schedule. The new names and times are substituted wherever they occur.
Dates / Times Windows
The Dates / Times and Playing Days windows are combined into one convenient window with three separately sizeable sections.
Schedule Generation
'Fair' location scheduling takes match times into account to lessen the possibility of double-booked locations.
The limit on the number of teams in each division is 100.
Only the fastest scheduling method is used and streak optimisation is always done automatically.
Times can optionally be distributed more fairly to each team and the result seen in the Time summary window.
It is no longer possible to assign times to particular teams.
Shared locations are automatically handled. It is not necessary to list the teams in a particular order.
Double-booking of locations is detected and reported.
The Skip Byes and Days between games options can be seen and changed whenever the schedule is generated.
A warning is given when regenerating the schedule if manual modifications will be lost.
Schedule Analysis
Enhanced Filters
The enhanced Filter function lets you quickly check just those games for any combination of the following:
From Date
To Date
Time
Location
Team
This is useful for answering questions like:
Which games are being played next week?
On which dates are the Cardinals playing at 5pm?
When is the main field being used?
Games without dates (bye games for example) can optionally be suppressed.
The resulting partial schedule can be viewed on the screen, printed or exported to a file.
Schedule Overview
The Schedule Overview is a convenient single screen showing all of the following information:
Teams
Locations
Teams / Locations
Times
Dates / Times
Option Settings
Schedule Summary
Location Summary
Time Summary
The overview is automatically updated whenever changes which affect it are made. The overview can be printed; or saved as a rich text format (RTF) word processor file or a text file.
Miscellaneous
The list of most recently used files under the File > Open menu automatically excludes files which have since been deleted.
An option allows you to specify the number of files that should be included in the most recently used list. Four is the default. Zero causes the list to be hidden.
The default folder for schedule files is the Home or Away folder in the user's Documents (My Documents on some versions of Windows) folder.
Optional large toolbars
The standard Windows popup calendar is used for all date entries.
The three export menus have been combined into one. The export type (comma separated values, tab separated values and HTML) is chosen in the File Save dialog box and the appropriate extension (csv, tsv or htm) is automatically added to the file name.
The main schedule window has a status bar with a convenient resizing grip.
Entries in the Dates / Times window are automatically sorted in date order.
The team column width in Schedule Summary automatically resizes to accommodate the longest team name
The save and print menu items have been reordered to be consistent with other applications.
