Hourly News is intended to keep you well informed about the latest news by subscribing to different podcast sources. In this respect, the app lets you listen to recent news from such popular news sources as BBC, CBC, NPR, ABC, CBS, ESPN, Fox and many others.
Hourly News has a minimalistic appearance and hides in the Menu Bar. It automatically plays the newest podcasts from the sources you have subscribed and you do not even need to make a click to advanced to the next news feed. Likewise, you may choose to skip already heard podcasts.
An important part of using the app is setting your sources. You will see that there are a few of them already there so you only need to toggle the button next to them to subscribe or unsubscribe. Similarly, you can drag the different sources and rearrange them in the desired order.
It is possible to add custom sources, but only if you acquire that possibility as an in-app purchase. However, the application does not support subscribing to any sources other than those broadcast in English and with publicly available news podcasts.
All in all, Hourly News is an excellent way to be updated with the latest news in a very unobtrusive way, which does not interfere with your work. Fortunately, there is a trial version of this product that works for 14 days. Unluckily, the latest version seems to be buggy as it does not launch automatically when the computer is restarted, even if the option is enabled.
