iBoysoft Data Recovery is intended to recover lost data from different types of media, including hard drives, external disks, USB storage devices and SD cards. It is great that it works even when the cause of deletion is drive formatting.

The app has a straightforward interface, and like in most other similar tools, there is a wizard to help you. Thus, you just need to select the desired options in each step. When you start the application, it can automatically detect the available drives and show information about them.

It is good that two scan modes are supported. A quick scan is always the best choice if you want to save some time; however, it may fail to find some files. The deep scan, in turn, takes a lot longer but produces more accurate results. I liked that the tool can automatically switch from quick to deep scan when that initial search is not successful.

After the search for files is finished, you can see the results, which comprises not only deleted but also current files. Additional information about the files, such as extension, size and date, is also shown. Luckily, if the list is too long, you can use the search function to find specific files. Besides, there is the possibility to preview images. Yet, it is not possible for large image files and other types. Finally, the rest is just selecting the files to recover and choosing a destination folder.
