Infernae takes place in a dark fantasy world, wherein you take on the role of a memento mori or grim reaper named Asmus. You are tasked with collecting the soul of the starwitch Lucine. However, she will not go quiet and wants her story told. Hence, the start of a long and arduous quest to complete your missions and bring your assignment to deliverance.
Lucine is just one of the bosses you'll face in Infernae, though, as they're many other witches like her whose souls you need to collect. Each one has a unique location and story to tell, as well as boasting unique elemental attacks that you need to be wary of and avoid. Combat is of the bullet hell variety, meaning things can get frenetic real quick.
As for controls, they're pretty intuitive, with your WASD keys for movement, left mouse button for range attacks, and right mouse button for melee and to deflect some incoming projectiles. The only thing to note before giving this game a try is that this is just a demo version. Hence, it's still in active development until a full release is ready.
All in all, Infernae is a good bullet hell shooter with nice pixel graphics, solid combat, and an interesting story to tell. Despite being just a demo, you will get a pretty good idea of what to expect when it comes to its gameplay. Hopefully, more news on the full release of the game will be announced soon.
