Joboshare Video Converter is an application that lets you convert your videos into multiple formats so that you can play them on a variety of devices. To facilitate the conversion process for multimedia playback devices, this application uses conversion profiles. These are pre-configured conversion settings that are optimized for each target device. There are profiles for Apple devices like the AppleTV, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, for various cell phones and gaming consoles. From Profiles drop-down menu, you can optionally choose a format and customize the settings manually.
Joboshare Video Converter has a very good input format support. I successfully opened MKV, AVI and MP4 files. My main test was done with a sample 1-minute MKV file in 720p. I chose the AppleTV 720p profile, which converts the video to H.264. The process took less than a minute and the resulting file was quite good. There were some artifacts in the video, but only noticeable to a picky eye. The audio played quite well, but there is no support for 5.1 audio channels, so your audio will be converted to stereo automatically.
This converter comes with a video editor that can be used to trim and crop videos. It works well and it is easy to use.
In short, Joboshare Video Converter is a decent video converter. It has all the settings that you need from a general-purpose video converter. It doesn't have the best graphical user interface, or GPU acceleration. Some of the profiles are also outdated.
