JPEGmini Pro is intended to optimize the size of your images without affecting their quality. As you can infer from its name, this tool is intended to process JPEG images. In this respect, it is excellent that it allows importing high-resolution photographs of up to 128 megapixels. However, it is shame that it does not support other picture formats.

The application is quite straightforward, but, regrettably, there is no help file available. The main operation is performed by dragging and dropping the desired images onto the main window, and, luckily, importing entire folders is allowed. After you do this, the app automatically starts the optimization. The results are available in practically no time. At this point, you can get basic statistics about the number of files processed as well as the percentage and storage space saved.

Although JPEGmini Pro works perfectly from “out of the box”, it is possible to set some preferences. In this respect, it is important to bear in mind that the default option overwrites the original files with the optimize ones, which you may want to avoid by picking a different folder. Likewise, you can decide what to do in relation to image dimensions: You can keep the original size or choose any of the preset sizes available.

Finally, perhaps you want to know that it integrates with other applications, such as Lightroom, Photoshop and Capture One, by allowing to directly optimize the size of the images created on them.

All in all, JPEGmini Pro does a great job in reducing the size of your photographs without any quality loss. Still, compared with other similar apps, it lacks the possibility of converting between picture formats. Moreover, it does not come with any editing capabilities, like cropping or applying filters. The product is available for trial but I must alert you that its price seems too high for what it does.
