Though the Internet speed has increased tremendously worldwide, online browsing can be annoying these days because of advertisements and trackers that steal the joy of the online experience.
To help users overcome this inconvenience, David Graham and Josh Peek developed Ka-Block, a smart Mac utility that blocks a selection of ads and trackers, and makes the online browsing faster, secure, and more enjoyable.
The app's UI runs in the Safari's extensions menu. The main screen its more of a door to the Safari's extensions menu. There are no themes, customizations, or advanced configurations.
Ka-Block has the purpose of increasing your phone's or computer's battery life, thanks to its ability to stop trackers from following your online activity through third-party scripts.
To protect the users privacy, the code from this extension doesn't run while browsing the web. The list of filtered domains is provided to the Safari and the browser does the rest.
Overall, Ka-Block is a useful extension that speeds up the Internet connection and makes the web browsing more safe and enjoyable. It's open source, so you won't pay a penny, unless you want to donate a symbolic amount to its founders.
However, it would be nice if the list of filtered sites was increased and some configuration menu was added to the app.
