KORG AudioGate is a comprehensive software program that is addressed to individuals that need to convert recordings made on KORG's MR Series recorders and then edit and play them on PCs. It also embeds numerous functions and can be used to operate KORG's DS-DAC series.
Its installation process, though it's easy to complete, lasts several minutes. The application has a Lite version that is free to use. However, for the full version, users need to connect to a DS-DAC or MR series unit in order to use its licensed version.
The interface has a standard appearance and comes with a blue theme color. The menus are well-delimited and the buttons have a modern look, but at times the navigation becomes sluggish.
KORG AudioGate supports lots of file formats, such as AAC, MP3, WAV, FLAC, and DSD. This way, users can handle various KORG playlists that contain sample rates, various bit resolutions, and multiple file formats. Another useful functionality is the conversion engine that now lets users play formats like 1-bit DSD or high-resolution PCM. Other included functions are "Direct Locate" - for changing the playback location, Undo and Redo, Auto-save, File export, Fade processing or L/R balance adjustments.
All in all, KORG AudioGate is a complex software tool for specialized audio conversion, recording, and editing. Note that it's best suited for experienced users and it uses a considerable amount of CPU memory.
