Casual and hardcore Marvel fans can expect quick-witty humor combined with very easy gameplay. To progress in the game, they only have to solve puzzles. However, some puzzles need a specific character team-up to clear. There are also heroes and villains that can unlock certain puzzles.
True to the core values of LEGO, this game has a child-friendly content. Deaths are represented as LEGO pieces disassembling. There are no penalties when players die other than losing in-game currency called Studs. These Studs can also be used to purchase unlockable items. Players can break some environmental props to gain more Studs. To get back in action, players can instead respawn.
LEGO Marvel's Avengers has different locations that appeared in the movies, and players can explore the open-world environment as they please. They can use vehicles to travel across the 15 world hubs faster. Players can also perform side quests and try bonus levels for completion and achievements.
