LinCastor Browser is not really a web browser. Instead, this application allows you to customize the actions that are executed when you click on a given link. Although most of the time, you can decide which browser to use for a specific link, it is also possible to create menu entries that link to AppleScript, Automator Workflow and shell scripts.

The application has a menu window, which allows you to select the desired browser from the list of those installed on the system. To set up this, you must open the application preferences. There, you can configure three types of actions: create menu, add action and set matching rule. A menu comprises the list of actions that are displayed to the user when LinCastor Browser gets an URL or a string of text to look up. The list of actions, in turn, can contain applications or other actions.

Finally, in my opinion, the biggest advantage of this tool derives from automation. In this regard, it is excellent that it allows us to create rules. Thus, we can configure the application to automatically perform an action if a certain condition is met. For example, it is possible to match a link to a specific browser.

Good news is that LinCastor Browser works not only with online links but also with local files. Thus, possible actions include defining which application to use to open or edit a certain type of file.

LinCastor Browser also allows you to automate searches. Options include not only searching the Internet but also translating words and converting between units of measurement.

All in all, LinCastor Browser can increase your productivity by allowing you a more personalized browsing experience. It is a pity that LinCastor Browser does not allow you to share settings with other devices. The app is available in the Mac App Store at no cost. However, its free version has a limit to the number of menu entries you can create. To avoid this drawback, you must purchase the Unlimited Menus option via in-app purchases.
