Longvinteris a premiumrole-playinggame for PC developed by Uuvana Studios. It is anonline multiplayersandbox title wherein players will bebuilding a homefor themselves on aremote tropical islandfilled with hidden secrets and mysteries that are waiting to be explored and discovered.
Compared to other survival games likeValheimorThe Planet Crafter, Longvinter is quite unassuming with itscartoonish art styleand casual presentation. It also features somecity-buildingmechanics for more varied gameplay, as well as aPvP modeto make the experience more engaging and interesting.
In the game, you play as an expeditionist who is assigned to travel to the titular Longvinter Island in order to research the mysterious location and find out what makes it so special. You'll start at one of the research camps on the island, and slowly build up from there. Explore a large sandbox world filled with various resources and hidden secrets just waiting to be discovered.
Speaking of nature, all the materials you'll collect along the way will help you craft tools and expand your base to support various things like a nice patch of farmland to grow crops to be more sustainable. You can even take your harvest and profit from it by selling it at the market. You can also trade items and knowledge you've discovered with other players online for the right price.
You are not alone in Longvinter, though, as there are other research expedition camps on the island, and you can choose to work together or steal from your fellow expeditionists. Before starting, just know that the game is still in early access, so more changes will come. Also, there are frequent server and connection issues that often result in disconnections to take into consideration.
When you first boot up Longvinter, you will be greeted with a rather friendly look and presentation that will make you think it's going to be good clean fun. However, as you go along, you'll realize there aresneaky thingsto be done and experienced, particularly with PvP, and that's one good thing about it. Here's to hoping that some of its issues get fixed soon.
