Work with a content restoration assistant on a Mac compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iTouch. Recover iPhone data like photos, contacts, call logs, and messages caused by a system crash, smash, upgrade, jailbreak, etc. Automatically scan the iTunes backup of your preferred device.
iPhone Data Recovery is an iOS backup utility for the Mac. Unlike similar applications, this one doesn't really require that your device be plugged in. It actually scans your hard drive for the backup files that are created when you sync a device with iTunes. This makes it ideal for users who have devices that have broken, or were stolen, or simply those who want to recover photos from iTunes backup files, for example.
So, when you first launch the application, and after clicking on the "Start Scan" button, you will see a list of all the devices that have backup files on your Mac. You can simply double-click on a device name to go to the next step. There, you will see exactly what you can extract from the backup file. I tried this application with an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2, and each device allowed me to back up different things. With the iPhone, I was able to transfer my photos and videos and with my iPad 2, I could extract both the photos and my contacts.
You can of course browse and select the files that you want to transfer. In the case of photos, there is a small preview pane on the left that lets you see the pictures. To select a photo to transfer it, all you need to do is check the box next to it. Or you can select them all by checking the box next to the Camera Roll under the device's name.
The application is currently free until December 31st, 2012. You can download it and when you check the registration window, you will see that your version is registered until the last day of the year.
