MacX Free DVD to FLV Converter for Mac is a free DVD ripper that allows you to convert your DVD movies into video files. The supported output formats by this ripper are: FLV, MPEG-4, H.264, DivX and XviD. If you want to rip one of your DVDs to upload it to a video sharing website that will convert your files to FLV, you might as well rip it to FLV in the first place and save yourself some time.
All the rippers and converters that I have tried from WinX and MacX have the same graphical user interface, which is also shared by WinX's Windows rippers. It is not a bad interface, but it looks old. It is simple, though, and very functional.
When you load a DVD movie, which you can do from a DVD disc or a folder on your hard drive, the DVD titles that make up that movie will be listed, and the main one will be pre-selected for you. Once you have selected the titles that you want to convert (you can check the ones that you want to convert) you simply have to select the format tab that you want to use. You can then change the conversion settings to your liking.
In my testing, I converted a DVD movie into FLV. I selected the main title and manually typed at the beginning and end times to shorten the title to a 1-minute clip. The whole conversion process took less than 20 seconds and the resulting file looked quite good.
